Excursion to the Schlegeisspeicher reservoir

Leave Maurach heading towards Mayrhofen, then along the beautiful gorge route towards Ginzling. From there you can easily find the Schlegeis alpine road (toll road).

At an altitude of over 800 metres, the road winds its way to your destination: the Schlegeisspeicher reservoir. Once you're at the top you can relax in one of the inns and guesthouses …

… Oskars insider tip: Helmuts Fishermans Hut right on the water.

From here you can enjoy the stunning views of the Tyrolean mountains.

Integrate a sporting component into your trip with a hike to Olpererhütte (walking time around 1.5 to 2 hours) – and allow the fantastic panoramic views of the 3,000 metre high Zillertal ridge to fascinate you.

On the way back take a little detour to Finkenberg and the Devils Bridge: an impressive testimony to Tyrolean wooden architecture over the Tuxerklamm gorge. After that it's back towards Mayrhofen and from there a return to Maurach.
